Case Study: Sales Page for Xbox 360® Red Light Fix Guide
Xbox
360, a Microsoft product, began experiencing problems in 2006 with three red
lights appearing on the console. What this meant for gamers was:
game over. Three red lights is a warning sign telling you that your box is
overheating, and must be shut down.
Microsoft took a billion dollar loss and promised to take care of Xbox 360 owners. But many gamers' boxes were out of warranty. And even those who had boxes still under warranty had to pay $140 to send their fragile equipment by mail to a U.S.-Mexico border town for repair.
An Online Marketing Goldmine
Naturally, online marketers were gracious enough to step in. But what began as a "get rich quick" or "smash and grab" online marketing initiative, slowly morphed into a quite legitimate guide for safely and effectively repairing your Xbox 360 red light problem.
Our client, Xbox 360 Red Light Fix, was deadly serious about their product. For one, they are deadly serious Xbox 360 gamers themselves. For another, they build their own computers, engage in highly successful Internet marketing, and produce their own hi-definition videos and eBooks.
Lifting the Quality of the Sales Page
We ran through at least two completely new iterations of the sales page.
In the first iteration, it was a matter of getting down the basic facts of this unique guide. How unique? No guide existed on the market at that point telling gamers who to disassemble, modify, and then reassemble their Xbox 360s. We also wrote up an autoresponder emailer series to accompany the sales page.
The client ran the sales page for awhile, achieved a certain level of success, and then came back for a second round.
Second time around, we punched hard on two point that distinguished our client's product with the others: Our client had kick-ass hi-def videos that did a superior job of showing newbies how to fix an Xbox 360. And then we emphasized the fact that Xbox 360 Red Light Fix Guide has three overlapping processes which guarantee a 100% success rate -- in a market that usually can only offer an 80% success rate.
We loved the new Xbox 360 red light sales page, and we think our client did, too.
